In roughly 2010, my grandparents (Russ and Mary) gave me a number of their historical family photos, dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. At the time, I scanned them into my computer, but unfortunately never completed the next step of finding out who was actually in the photos.

Skip forward to 2022 and both of my grandparents have since died, so I get the idea that maybe if I started working on my genealogy I would be able to figure out who the people in the photos are. I started building out my tree on Ancestry and I’m able to make a bunch of connections between my relatives and the photos. In the meantime, I’ve acquired additional boxes of photos, slides, negatives, documents, and memorabilia from my grandparent’s house, so I start scanning that in too.

Those started getting added to my family tree as, but I quickly realized that a lot of the photos I have are the only copies that exist and that my extended family would probably love to have access to them as well and Johnson Family Album was born!
